This bestselling thriller book is now filming as a movie in downtown Sidney

If you’ve noticed camera crews or streets blocked off in and around downtown Sidney lately, it’s not your imagination—another production has rolled into town.

The charming seaside community is currently the backdrop for If I Run, a thriller based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Terri Blackstock.

The story kicks off when Casey Cox stumbles onto her friend’s murder scene. Instead of calling the police, she runs—her DNA is at the scene, and she doesn’t trust the system that’s already failed her once.

What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase as a military investigator named Dylan Roberts is brought in to track her down. But the deeper he digs, the less Casey looks like a killer—and the more tangled the truth becomes.

Filming officially began on April 24th and will continue around Sidney until May 6th. After that, the crew packs up and heads to Victoria to continue production.

Behind the scenes is Lighthouse Pictures and Fezziwig Studios—the same production companies behind Netflix’s Ransom Canyon.

Locals might spot scenes being shot at several recognizable locations, including Beacon Avenue, Weiler Avenue, and Sixth Street. The production is currently set up at the old Sidney-Anacortes ferry terminal, right by Tulista Park.

Not only has If I Run brought a little excitement to the streets, it’s also supporting the local economy. A good portion of the crew has been hired from the Sidney area, and another film production is already lined up to begin filming in town this June.

Keep your eyes peeled—Sidney might just end up on your screen sooner than you think.
