As the dust continues to slowly settle on the 2024 provincial BC election, Elections BC says there are still around 65,000 ballots to be counted.
These ballots will be added into the mix as Elections BC begins its final count protocols which will begin on Saturday, October 26th and end on Monday, October 28th.
Once this process is complete, a winner will finally be declared.
Current election results have both the BC NDP and Conservative Party of BC tied neck-and-neck with 40 elected seats apiece.
There are 11 electoral districts that could swing either way once mail in ballots are counted—the BC NDP are leading in six of those ridings while the Conservatives have the lead in five.
For either party to form a majority government, they will have to win a total of 47 seats.

Elections BC says that on Friday, October 25th, they will reveal how many of the approximate 65,000 mail-in ballots are from constituents in the 11 toss-up electoral districts.
Additionally, two electoral districts, Juan de Fuca-Malahat and Surrey City Centre, saw a result which had the BC NDPs and BC Conservatives end up only 100 or less votes apart on election day.
Because of this, an automatic recount must take place for those ridings.
All recount and final count results will be announced by Elections BC as they become available.
