A Nanaimo man and his dog were allegedly threatened by an unidentified male after being chased with knives.
On Thursday, July 11th at around 9:30 a.m., a 44-year-old Nanaimo man was out walking his dog in a wooded area behind the Northfield Rotary Lookout Park, located at 2450 Northfield Road.
While walking, Nanaimo RCMP say he was confronted by another man who was wielding two knives.
The assailant reportedly swung the knives at the dog walker in an attempt to stab him, and in response, the dog lunged at the assailant and bit him on the right leg.
The dog’s owner, who claims to be trained in martial arts, was able to incapacitate the assailant and take possession of the knives, according to police.
Officers have described the suspect as a Caucasian man with shoulder-length brown hair, aged between 30 and 40-years-old, and was wearing dark clothes with a bra on his head.
After the incident, he left the area with a red suitcase and a red mobility walker.
The police attended the scene, and despite search efforts, have been unable to locate him.
