North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Duncan yesterday.
At around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, police say they received a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Trunk Road.
According to investigators, evidence and witness accounts thus far suggest the vehicle, a grey Honda Civic, was travelling southbound on the highway.
The man reportedly ran westbound across the intersection at the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.
Based on what the RCMP have released, it is unclear whether the vehicle or pedestrian had the right-of-way.
Following being struck, the man was treated by paramedics who attended the scene and deemed he had suffered serious injuries.
Investigators say they will continue to collect evidence in order to piece together the circumstances leading to this incident.
