A man wanted in connection to a January homicide in Alberta has been arrested in Sooke with assistance from RCMP officers on Vancouver Island.
Officers from West Shore and Sooke RCMP assisted investigators from Vermilion, Alberta, along with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, in locating and arresting a suspect tied to a January killing.
On April 25th, police confirmed the arrest of 28-year-old Cole Erich Hill, who had been wanted in connection to the death of 30-year-old Vermilion resident Brady Greg Snelgrove.
Investigators say Snelgrove was found deceased on January 21st at a residence along 52 Avenue in Vermilion. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation shortly after the discovery.
Police later determined that the suspect had fled Alberta following the homicide.
With help from the public, officers from Sooke RCMP, West Shore RCMP and the West Shore Bike Unit were able to track down and arrest Hill in Sooke.
Hill, who has no fixed address, has since been charged with second-degree murder.
He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody. Police say he will be transported back to Alberta, where he is expected to appear in court to face the charge.
At the time of the initial investigation in January, police had arrested a man at the scene, though he was later released as the investigation continued.
The case remains under the direction of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit.
