Victoria Seedy Saturday is back for another year, and it’s gearing up for an even bigger, better experience at a new location!
This beloved event, a cornerstone of the local gardening community, has been a staple since 1994, making it the second-oldest Seedy Saturday event in the world.
It’s a place where gardeners, farmers, seed savers, and environmental groups gather to exchange knowledge, share resources, and foster deeper connections within the community.
Victoria Seedy Saturday offers a unique opportunity to get hands-on with local, climate-adapted plants and seeds while learning from experts in sustainable gardening and ecological stewardship.
It will take place on Saturday, February 15th, and will be moving to the eloquent surroundings of Crystal Garden in downtown Victoria to support their big expansion!
After 2024’s Seedy Saturday saw over 1,100 attendees, with some waiting up to 30 minutes to get inside, they knew it was time to move to a bigger venue.
They want to ensure that no one is getting turned away at the door due to max capacity and they are excited to see this year’s turnout.
“We’re thrilled to move to Crystal Garden for 2025. This new, larger, and more accessible venue will provide the space needed to accommodate more attendees, increase vendor participation, and offer expanded opportunities for educational talks,” says Lisa Small, Victoria Seedy Saturday Coordinator.
“It’s a step forward in ensuring that more people can engage with this vital event and walk away with the knowledge and resources they need to grow their own food.”
Similar to previous years, the 2025 event promises to be a hub for everything you may need—from seed exchanges to in-depth talks on gardening techniques and food security!
And as described in a media release, in light of rising food costs and the growing impacts of climate change on our food systems, the importance of Victoria Seedy Saturday cannot be overstated.
There will be over 50 local vendors with a wide variety of seeds, plants, organic gardening supplies and more.
Activities include free educational talks from gardening experts and environmental organizations, as well as an area for the kids to play around.
Admission is by donation.
Come and check out this wonderful event for yourself. Who knows, you may have your own garden started in no time!
