It may be October, but Greater Victoria isn’t quite ready to settle into the cold and rainy weather just yet.
A pleasantly warm stretch is in the forecast this week, with temperatures expected to climb close to 20°C and plenty of sunshine making an appearance.
According to Environment Canada, Monday will see skies clearing through the afternoon with a high of 16°C.
Things warm up considerably beginning Tuesday. While there is a 30% chance of drizzle during the morning, skies are expected to clear in the afternoon as temperatures climb to 19°C.
Wednesday is looking even better, with sunshine and another high of 19°C.
The warmest day of the week is expected to arrive Thursday, when Greater Victoria could reach 20°C under sunny skies.
For comparison, Environment Canada lists the normal daytime high for this time of year at around 15°C, putting Thursday roughly five degrees above normal.
The warm spell won’t last forever, though with Friday seeing a 30% chance of showers and a high of 16°C before a mix of sun and cloud returns Saturday with another high of 16°C.

Sunday is currently expected to reach 17°C with a mix of sun and cloud.
Overnight temperatures will also begin to feel a little more like fall as the weekend approaches, dropping to around 5°C Saturday night.
Still, for early-to-mid October on Vancouver Island, a couple of sunny 19°C and 20°C days are certainly nothing to complain about!
The forecast was issued by Environment Canada Monday morning and, as always, could change as the week progresses.
