A recent survey shows that most Canadians are concerned about Donald Trump’s second term as President and the impacts that will be felt by the world at large.

President-elect Trump will be inaugurated and take the reins as leader of the United States once again on Monday, January 20th.

Once this occurs, Canada may face high tariffs that Trump has threatened, which could have serious ramifications on the economy and the relationship between our country and the United States.

On top of these threatened tariffs, some are concerned how Trump will handle international relations with countries like Israel, Russia and China.

Research Co., a BC-based polling and analytics firm, conducted a survey to see how Canadians feel about Trump’s second term.

Across Canada, 59% of respondents said that his presidency would have negative impacts on the world, and 59% responded that it would be negative for Canada specifically.

For the fight against climate change, 63% of respondents believe his presidency will be negative and 60% say he will bear a negative impact on the current state of political correctness as well.

When asked what type of Canadian government people think would be most up to the task of standing up to and working with the Trump administration, 46% of respondents said a Conservative government would be preferable.

Meanwhile, 31% of Canadians said a Liberal government would be best and 23% were unsure.

In terms of how the Biden presidency was, 51% of Canadians believe he had a positive impact on Canada between 2021 and 2024.

When asked to look at the previous Trump presidency which lasted from 2017 to 2021, 54% of Canadians believe it was overall negative for Canada, while 31% said it was positive.

With Trump taking the Oval Office once again, many Canadians are uncertain about what is yet to come, or how his presidency will affect their lives and the cost-of-living.

How do you feel about Trump being reelected with his inaugurations so near?
