School may be back in session, but that doesn’t mean the events in Victoria have stopped.

Honeybear, The Band album release party at Upstairs
Honeybear, The Band is a vintage inspired soul, blues and roots quartet, taking listeners on an old school road trip through the dusty back roads of American music.
As music blog “B- Side Guys” puts it, “it’s as if The Teskey Brothers decided to collaborate with the ghost of Muddy Waters”.
While Honeybear, The Band is a relatively new band formed in 2023, the four band members are old friends and have been playing together in other formations for well over 20 years, crossing paths on tours across Canada, down the West Coast and beyond.
As individual performers, they’ve played at most major folk, jazz/blues festivals in Canada.
When the pandemic struck and live music was at a standstill, the four friends found themselves jamming outdoors in parks, with amps and PA’s hooked up to jerry rigged motorcycle batteries, just to bask in the joy that is playing live music with like minded souls.

Oak Bay Night Market
For the last time this summer, Oak Bay Village will be transformed into a European style street market.
A wide range of fresh and local produce and food is available.
Artists and artisans showcase a variety of wares including wood turned bowls, hand made greeting cards, glass art, paper casting, fabric arts, jewelry, toys, fresh made soaps and cosmetics and preserves.
Each market also offers local music, a magician, face painting and balloon animals. The stores of Oak Bay merchants are open with special pricing, tastings, demos, sampling and more.
The Oak Bay Night Market, held rain or shine, is organized by the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association.
The market is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

A director making a slasher sequel becomes obsessed with casting the original film’s ‘final girl,’ leading both women into psychological and sexual chaos.
Tickets are $8 for UVSS students, $9 for seniors, $10 for UVic alumni, faculty and staff and a plus one or $11 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Watercolours for Wellness: Peaceful Pebbles, Gems and Crystals at Carr House National Historic Site
Let nature be our guide! Enjoy the gentle process of capturing the magical textures and beauty in beach pebbles, gems and crystals.
This is a three-part workshop series taking place on Wednesdays, September 9th, 16th and 23rd.
Enjoy creating in a variety of fun and playful ways guided by Therapeutic Arts Practitioner Helga Strauss. Experiment with watercolours, sparkles and more while learning about pebbles, gems and crystals, and their healing properties and gifts.
Tickets are $105 per person and all materials are included. All experience levels are welcome!
