A Shawnigan Lake resident is now $100,000 richer after winning a recent Lotto Max draw.
Dylan S. is the lucky winner, and says he was outside a gas station when he decided to check his lottery ticket on his phone.
After discovering he had won, he was in shock when he saw he had won the $100,000 MAXPLUS prize from the October 13th draw.
“I scanned [the ticket on the BCLC Lotto! app] and freaked out,” said Dylan.
“I scanned it a few times and then went inside the gas station to double check.”
Dylan reportedly shared the news with close friends and family first.
“They are happy for me and half of them didn’t believe me,” he said. “My dad said I should make sure it’s not $100.”
Dylan says he plans to put the money toward a down payment on a home.
“I’m super excited. Before I was happy to just win a free play,” he said on how he felt winning the prize.
He purchased the winning ticket at Mason’s Store on Renfrew Road in Shawnigan Lake.
According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, every Lotto Max draw includes multiple $100,000 cash prizes.
For every $1 million in the main jackpot, a $100,000 prize is added to the draw.
