The 12th annual Thrifty Foods Wicked Victoria returns this weekend transforming Government Street into a Halloween celebration filled with costumes, candy and family-friendly entertainment.
Hosted by the Greater Victoria Festival Society (GVFS), the free event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will take over Government Street between Yates and Broughton Streets, along with Bastion Square this Sunday, October 25th.
Visitors can expect live music, dance performances, costumed characters, local vendors and plenty of trick-or-treating opportunities.
There will also be halloween storytelling at Munro’s Books, while younger visitors can enjoy face painting, crafts and other Halloween-themed activities in the kids’ zone.
Families are encouraged to dress up and join the festivities.
Drivers should also prepare for traffic disruptions downtown. In a media release issued Friday, VicPD warned that traffic detours are expected throughout the event.
Police officers, Reserve Constables and volunteers will be stationed throughout the area to help manage traffic, assist pedestrians and keep the festivities safe.
Those travelling downtown Sunday are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time.
For more information about the celebration, visit the GVFS website.
