Saanich Police issue public warning over fraudulent phone calls

Saanich Police have issued a warning to the public after receiving multiple reports of fraudulent phone calls. 

The scam calls reportedly involve individuals claiming to be officers with Saanich Police and appear to be coming from the department’s non-emergency number. 

According to investigators, the callers have been requesting financial or personal information from those they contact.

“These calls are scams,” said Jason Hallman, communications advisor with Saanich Police. 

“Saanich Police will not ask for financial or personal information over the phone.”

Police say these reports have come from individuals throughout Greater Victoria and even on the Lower Mainland. 

Anyone who receives one of these calls is asked to hang up and report it to Saanich Police at (250) 475-4321, citing file number 26-18996.
