This Sunday, June 28th, a march will be held in Nanaimo to raise awareness for Lisa Marie Young, a woman who went missing 24 years ago.
Young disappeared from her hometown of Nanaimo on June 30th, 2002, at the age of just 21 years old. Today, Young would be 45.
The night she went missing, Young was having a night out with friends.
She reportedly went to a nightclub and two house parties before accepting a ride to a fast food restaurant from a man she had never met.
Young has not been seen since that night.
Although her body has never been found, Nanaimo RCMP have been investigating this case as a homicide for over two decades.
As the anniversary of her disappearance approaches, an annual march will be held in Nanaimo, calling on anyone who knows something to come forward.
The “Forever Young” Memorial March for Lisa Marie Young will be held on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.
The march will begin at the Nanaimo RCMP detachment and proceed to the pavilion at Maffeo Sutton Park.
At the end of the march, attendees will gather for a series of performances and guest speakers to honour Young and raise awareness about the ongoing investigation into her disappearance and suspected murder.
Officers who are familiar with the case will be on site and available to speak with anyone who may have information related to this investigation.
Nanaimo RCMP want to remind the public that there is a reward of up to $50,000 USD available for information that leads to the recovery of Lisa Marie Young’s remains.
