We’re halfway through the week, Victoria!
As we prepare for some sun to shine on the city for the rest of the week, there are some great events happening around town this Wednesday that highlight the culture and community of Victoria.
From a night market in Oak Bay to a premier of a film from local filmmakers to an exhibition meant to spotlight the incredible journey of local wildlife, there is something for everyone to get excited about Victoria.
Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Wednesday, June 10th:
Oak Bay Night Market
Beginning in June and continuing to September, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, Oak Bay Village is transformed into a European style street market.
A wide range of fresh and local produce and food is available.
Artists and artisans showcase a variety of wares including wood turned bowls, hand made greeting cards, glass art, paper casting, fabric arts, jewelry, toys, fresh made soaps and cosmetics and preserves.
Each market also offers local music, a magician, face painting and balloon animals. The stores of Oak Bay merchants are open with special pricing, tastings, demos, sampling and more.
The Oak Bay Night Market, held rain or shine, is organized by the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association.
The market is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Victoria premiere is especially meaningful as the creators and co-producers of the project, Denisa Krásná and Alena Rainsberry, will be travelling from the Czech Republic and the United States to present the film in person!
Their book, Flow: Women’s Counternarratives from Rivers, Rock, and Sky, will be available for purchase during intermission from local publisher Rocky Mountain Books.

Shux Shux and the Island is an invitation to witness a sacred, four-year voyage following the life-sustaining cycle of wild salmon.
The exhibition marks a pivotal moment in the Honouring Our Grandmothers Healing Journey, a project dedicated to lightening the burden of generational grief through the resurgence of Indigenous arts, culture and language.
The exhibition and its accompanying programming centre Indigenous presence, relationships and collective witnessing while creating space for dialogue around resilience, community care, land and interconnected struggles for justice.
