‘Shaking and crying’: Malahat resident scores $100K prize in Lotto Max draw

A Malahat resident is $100,000 better off than she was after winning the ‘MAXPLUS’ prize from Lotto Max.

The winner, Claudia, says she felt as if she was going to pass out at work when she found out someone in Malahat had won the lotto prize.

With a small population residing in the community, she knew her chances were good.

Fortunately, Claudia did not end up passing out when she found out it was indeed her who had won the prize from the April 21st draw.

“When I found out I won, I was shaking like a leaf,” said Claudia, recalling how she felt after checking her ticket at a retailer.

“I phoned my son and asked if he was sitting down. I told him I won and he said, ‘You’re kidding me!’ I was shaking and crying; just absolutely elated.”

According to Claudia, the winnings will go toward a planned gathering of all her immediate family, where she plans to give away some of the $100,000.

“I will be sharing the wealth,” she exclaimed. “This win has brought me so much happiness!”

Claudia purchased and checked the winning ticket at Centex on Trans-Canada Highway in Malahat.

According to BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), every Lotto Max draw includes multiple $100,000 cash prizes. For every $1 million in the main jackpot, there is a $100,000 prize added to the draw.
