Learn to love Wednesdays, Victoria!

Wednesday night is bringing some great events to town, so get out and beat those mid-week blues!

Whether you’re going to be heading down to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre for some country music or checking out some local cinema, you’re bound to find something for you.

Here are 5 things things to do in and around Victoria this Wednesday, May 6th:

Old Dominion at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre

Catch Old Dominion at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre!

American country music band Old Dominion hails from Nashville, Tennessee, and has been performing genuine southern country music to fans for decades.

The band is a powerhouse in the industry, with hit songs like One Man Band and Memory Lane.

The Canadian leg of their How Good is That world tour wraps up in Victoria on Wednesday.

Phil Vassar and Sacha will open for the band.

There are still some seats available for the show. They start at $98.45 and can be purchased here.

Orca Book Publishers Spring Launch at Munro’s Books

Head down to Munro’s for Orca Books’ spring launch!

The publisher has just announced the return of the Orca Book Publishers Launch—featuring many wonderful BC children’s authors and their newly published books.

Meet the authors, enjoy some refreshments and get your books signed!

This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Vancouver Island Film Blue Heron at CineCenta

Filmed on Vancouver Island, Blue Heron is a film that comes from writer and director Sophy Romvari.

The film is also set on Vancouver Island, and features a family of six settling into their new home as internal dynamics are revealed through the eyes of the youngest child.

Blue Heron is a reflection on Romvari’s past, and she weaves her own life experiences into the story.

The film will play on both May 6th and May 7th. Tickets can be purchased in person only. They are $11 for the general public, or $8 for UVic students.

Drink and Draw at Phoenix Bar and Grill

Drink and Draw Social Club hosts a weekly meetup of beginner-to-professional artists & beverage enthusiasts.

Every Wednesday, members meet up at a different pub with their own art supplies and doodle away.This week’s pub is The Phoenix Bar and Grill

This group was started in 2010 and includes professional animators, storyboard artists, comic book artists, graphic designers and tattoo artists.

Don’t feel intimidated, though, there are many beginners and hobbyists as well. Even if your forte is stick people, you’re more than welcome to join!

The meeting is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Phillips Comedy Night at the Mint

Every Wednesday, Morgan and Drew bring the best comics in the city together for a fresh, fun night of laughs in the heart of downtown Victoria. Wildly popular and always new, Comedy Night is a hilarious night out.

Don’t forget to grab some of the delicious west coast Himalayan cuisine that the Mint is famous for.

Tickets are $15 per person online and can be purchased here, or $20 per person at the door. Organizers say showing up 45 minutes early ensures you get the best seats.
