It has been a while, or at least it feels that way, since the Victoria Royals last played on home ice.
The club’s most recent games at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre came on February 3rd and 4th in a back-to-back set against the Kamloops Blazers, where the Royals split the series and picked up one win.
Since then, Victoria has played five straight games on the road, earning a shootout victory during that stretch.
Now sitting 9th in the Western Conference and 5th in the BC Division, the playoff push is officially on. And it begins at home.
The Royals have four games on home ice in February that you’ll want to add to your caledenar:
Lunar New Year Night – Friday, February 20th
The Royals return to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight, Friday at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Wenatchee Wild for their annual Lunar New Year celebration.
Presented by Fancy Ching Wealth Management, the evening is part of the club’s Built by Community campaign and reflects its continued commitment to creating meaningful connections across Victoria.
“We love sharing our culture with the community and hope that by celebrating Chinese New Year with the community and by helping to highlight the Victoria Chinatown Museum, we will be able to do so,” said Fancy Ching.
The 2026 celebration marks the Year of the Horse, paired with the fire element. The Royals will wear special Lunar New Year warm-up jerseys designed by Anchi Nguyen, featuring vibrant red and orange tones inspired by traditional red envelope designs and incorporating horse imagery that reflects strength, confidence and passion.
The jerseys will be auctioned off leading up to the game.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early. Doors open at 6 p.m., with pre-game cultural performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the concourse, including the Wong Sheung Kung Fu Club Dragon Dancers and the Philippine Bayanihan Centre.
The Victoria Taiwanese Association will also demonstrate New Year scroll calligraphy, with keepsakes available for fans.
The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive lucky red envelopes featuring a variety of prizes, including a grand prize suite night at a future Royals home game.
Trades Night – Saturday, February 21st
The celebration continues Saturday at 6:05 p.m. with Trades Night, presented by the Vancouver Island Construction Association and Hall Constructors.
“Trades Night highlights the people who keep our communities growing while bringing them together to enjoy some Royals hockey action,” said Logan Halpenny, Business Development Executive.
“Partnering with the Vancouver Island Construction Association and Hall Constructors helps make this night a true celebration of local workers, families and fans.”
The evening shines a spotlight on skilled trades and career opportunities in construction, featuring interactive concourse activations, in-game features, live music at Gate 1 and the return of fan-favourite heavy machinery displays.
Van Isle Paint has donated 700 tickets to local trade schools, students and community organizations.
“The skilled trades are the backbone of our region’s economy, and Trades Night with the Victoria Royals is a fantastic way to recognize that contribution,” said Rory Kulmala, CEO of VICA.
This weekend marks the third meeting of the season between Victoria and Wenatchee, with the series tied 1-1.
Wenatchee enters the weekend with a 21-29-3-2 record and sits 11th in the Western Conference. Despite their standing, the Wild boast the top penalty kill in the WHL, which puts added emphasis on five-on-five play.
For Victoria, Miles Cooper is one to watch. Returning from injury last week, the Calgary-born forward recorded three assists in a shootout win over Portland and will look to build momentum against his former club.
Gabriel Guilbault has been a key contributor for Wenatchee, including scoring in a 2-0 win over the Royals on February 6th.
Pink in the Rink – Saturday, February 28th
After a short two-game road trip next week, the Royals return home for another important back-to-back against the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, February 27th at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, February 28th at 4:05 p.m.
That Saturday contest will be the club’s annual Pink in the Rink game, one of the most meaningful nights of the season.
Hosted in partnership with Mayfair Optometric in support of the Canadian Cancer Society and Vancouver Island Lodge, the evening is dedicated to raising awareness and showing support for those affected by cancer.
Earlier this month, several Royals players visited Vancouver Island Lodge, spending time with patients and families staying in Victoria while undergoing cancer treatment. The Lodge provides accommodation, meals, transportation, wellness programs and essential support services for individuals travelling for care.
On February 28th, the Royals will wear pink specialty jerseys that will be auctioned online beginning Monday at noon. The arena will once again feature pink rink boards, a dedication wall for fans to honour loved ones, exclusive Hockey Fights Cancer merchandise and special in-game tributes.
With playoff implications on the ice and meaningful moments off it, the final weekend of February is shaping up to be one of the biggest of the season at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
Tickets for all upcoming home games are available online or by calling (250) 419-6906.
