These two Vancouver Island spots are trending as Canada’s top winter destinations

Two Vancouver Island locations are topping Canadians’ winter getaway wish lists this year, according to Expedia’s Winter Travel Outlook

Both Ucluelet and Victoria were trending as the number four and sixth spot, with a 45% and 30% surge in interest, proving Canadians love a cozy winter getaway.

While Vancouver Island stole the spotlight, Canadians are also searching for winter getaways across the country. Other trending cities included Prince Edward Island, Jasper, Kitchener, Charlottetown, Kamloops, Saskatoon, Halifax, and St. John’s.

Canadians also love to swap the cold for hot weather and sandy beaches! Popular international destinations included Cortina d’Ampezzo and Milan in Italy, and Acapulco in Mexico.

Expedia’s Winter Travel Outlook also shares helpful tips for timing your trip.

For domestic travel, the slowest days to fly are February 24th and 26th, while the busiest are December 20th and 24th. 

If you’re looking for the best deals, the cheapest flights fall on December 4th and 5th, while the priciest are  on January 2nd and 3rd.

For international travel, the slowest days are February 22nd and 24th, with the busiest around December 20th and 25th. 

Flights are cheapest on December 3rd and February 25th, and most expensive on December 20th and 25th.
