There’s a new art gallery opening inside the Fairmont Empress in downtown Victoria!
Mountain Galleries, a space to celebrate authors in a variety of mediums, has curated a selection of works by established favourites.
This includes Paul Nicklen, Ann Murphy, Charlie Easton, Robert E. Wood, and more—alongside fresh, contemporary voices from within the Off-Piste Fine Arts gallery group like Jane Waterous, John Clinton and David Yarrow.
And similar to all of Mountain Galleries’ locations, the space is designed to be accessible and welcoming, as well as rooted in a passion for Canadian and luxury art.
“We are excited to welcome Mountain Galleries to Fairmont Empress, where history and artistry converge in the heart of Victoria,” says General Manager Dan McGowan.
“The addition of Mountain Galleries enriches our guests’ experience by offering a thoughtfully curated selection of Canadian fine art within our storied walls. We look forward to this new partnership and the inspiring space that will offer visitors and the local community a new perspective of our destination through visual storytelling.”
As described in a media release, this is a huge milestone for Mountain Galleries, as the expansion into the Empress will bring fine art to visitors from across the country, and the world.
“We are thrilled to be opening inside the Fairmont Empress,” says Ann Priftis, CEO of Off-Piste Fine Arts.
“It’s an iconic hotel that shares our love of storytelling, craftsmanship, and beauty. We look forward to connecting with visitors from around the world and sharing the work of artists we truly believe in.”
To celebrate the launch, Mountain Galleries will host a grand opening on Thursday, June 26th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Guests will be treated to champagne while they explore the new space and collection. The event is free to attend, but RSVP is required, as the space is limited.
