After being missing for over a year, the body of Kielan Hall was located in a home on the Songhees Reserve in Esquimalt last week.
Now, an online fundraiser has been launched in order to help Hall’s family during this unimaginably difficult time.
“The pain of this loss is deep and far-reaching. Kielan was a beautiful soul—kind, warm-hearted, and full of life,” wrote Terrill Sigurdson, who organized the GoFundMe on behalf of the Hall family.
“He had a way of lighting up every room he walked into, and he touched so many lives with his genuine spirit and love. He once gave the shoes off of his feet to a homeless man because he didn’t have any.”
Hall left behind a grieving family including parents Sheldon and Lori Hall, his sister, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles as well as a wide circle of friends and loved ones who are now heartbroken to find out he is gone.
The funds collected from the GoFundMe will go towards helping to support his grieving family as they recover and navigate this loss.
Additionally, the funds will be used to help pay for the unexpected funeral, memorial and burial expenses.
“Let’s come together to honor Kielan’s life, support his family, and give him the farewell he deserves,” wrote Sigurdson.
As of this publication, the fundraiser has garnered just over $2,600 of its $20,000 goal.
What happened to Kielan Hall
On Wednesday, May 14th, police found Hall’s body while executing a search warrant for an unrelated, alleged drug trafficking matter in a mobile home on the Songhees Reserve lands.
While searching the home, police located human remains and obtained a new search warrant to expand the scope of their search.
The remains were then confirmed to be Kielan Hall.
Before his remains were discovered by West Shore RCMP, he had a missing persons case open with Saanich Police since March, 2024.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has taken over the investigation from West Shore RCMP, and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding Hall’s death.
