In the most recent polls from BC-based Research Co., data shows that the Liberal Party of Canada remains in the lead above the Conservative Party of Canada.
Respondents across Canada were asked in a recent survey who they would vote for if the election were to take place today.
The results show that 41% of Canadian respondents would vote Liberal and 36% would vote Conservative, putting the Liberals ahead by five points.
Additionally, 8% of respondents said they would vote NDP, 6% said they would vote Bloc Québécois, 2% said Green Party, 1% said People’s Party of Canada, 1% intend to vote for an independent and 4% remain undecided.
When Canada’s regions are broken down regionally, the Liberals are leading in BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
The Conservatives only lead in one region, which is Alberta, according to Research Co.
The survey also sought to find out which issues are the most important to Canadians this election.
According to the results, Canada-US relations is the most top of mind (28%), housing/homelessness/poverty was the second priority (20%) while jobs and the economy was the third most important issue to Canadians (19%).
Behind the top three key issues were healthcare (9%), immigration (8%) and crime/public safety (4%).
When asked if voters would consider changing their vote before the election in one-week’s time, 82% of Canadian respondents said they would not, while 18% said they may still change their vote.
