A GoFundMe has been launched for Ryan Mazar‘s family after a tragic boating incident last week.
Just after 6:15 p.m. on April 22nd, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of an unoccupied boat circling in the ocean near the 200-block of the Trans Canada Highway.
The roughly 20-foot vessel was spotted moving erratically in the water with no one on board. Police say three people had been on the boat when the accident occurred, causing all of them to be thrown overboard.
Two of the occupants—a mother and her baby—were located on shore and rescued. Both were transported to hospital for medical care. Those close to the mother say she managed to swim to shore with the baby on her stomach.
“Ryan made sure Mykaila had the baby and she immediately began swimming for the shore with baby Ariel on her chest. After swimming for two hours they were found on shore and are now recovering in hospital,” reads the GoFundMe.
The third person on board, 43-year-old Mazar, remains missing.

According to the GoFundMe, Mazar and his family were prawning along the Finlayson Arm at the time—something they enjoyed doing quite often, and is an activity Mazar has been doing for years.
“Ryan became a new father again only three short months ago. He also has his first grandchild on the way within the next two weeks,” the GoFundMe reads.
“As well as facing uncertain futures, circumstances, and tragedy, we need to ban [sic] together to provide as much financial and emotional support for the babies, parents and family as we can.”
The search continues today in the Finlayson Arm area, with a large presence of search and rescue teams expected to remain in the area.
As of this publication, the GoFundMe has raised $2,360 of its $10,000 goal.
