West Shore RCMP have issued a driver prohibition and impounded a vehicle after a driver crashed into a BC Hydro pole while intoxicated.

On Wednesday, March 26th, at around 7:56 p.m., police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the 1400 block of Kangaroo Road in Metchosin.

Police determined that the involved 2024 Grand Jeep Cherokee had driven off the road and crashed into the BC Hydro pole at this location.

Because the collision involved a power pole, BC Hydro, paramedics and firefighters all attended the scene.

“Remarkably, no one was seriously injured in this incident,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar in a media release.

Police say the 38-year-old woman who had been driving the Jeep was exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment on the scene.

Following an impaired driving investigation, she was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
