Residents and visitors of Sooke, this is for you!

The District of Sooke is gearing up to make some much needed improvements to the Woodland Creek Playground with exciting new additions that will allow children of all abilities to play.

The upgrades, set to be completed by next week, will be geared for children aged 2 to 7-years-old, and include two standout features.

Firstly, the ‘Adaptive Swings’ are designed to accommodate children with varying abilities, allowing them to easily swing with their peers and promote social interaction.

The ‘Wheelchair-Accessible Spinner’ for children with mobility challenges, enables them to join in on the fun and joy of spinning!

“We are thrilled to be adding this accessible equipment to Woodland Creek Playground,” says Mayor Maja Tait.

“Play is such an important part of childhood development, and these new features will ensure that every child can enjoy our playgrounds.”

Work on the playground began on January 8th and is expected to be completed by Wednesday, January 15th!

While the playground is open during the installation process, everyone is asked to be mindful of construction crews and safety barriers in place.

Stay tuned for more updates, and be sure to stop by and enjoy the updated Woodland Creek Playground later this month!
