With the Family Day long weekend just around the corner, BC Ferries is preparing for a busy travel period as families head out for much-needed getaways!
To help make the trip more affordable for families, BC Ferries is offering a special $5 child fare for pre-booked reservations on four of its busiest routes.
The offer applies to children ages five to 11-years-old, and covers travel on the following routes:
- Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay
- Tsawwassen to Duke Point
- Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay
- Horseshoe Bay to Gibsons to Langdale routes.
The promotion is available for bookings made between January 15th and February 19th, for travel between February 12th and February 19th.
“The $5 child fare is one way we’re making it easier for families to connect, make memories and enjoy Family Day together,” said Melanie Lucia, Vice President of Customer Experience at BC Ferries.
“With the 60-year-old Queen of New Westminster still out of service and the challenges of managing an aging fleet, we’re doing everything we can to support smooth and affordable travel over the upcoming holiday weekend. At the same time, we’re focused on the long-term improvements that come with fleet renewal.”
The Queen of New Westminster, which has been out of service due to ongoing repairs, is expected to return in March.
In the meantime, BC Ferries is adding extra sailings where possible and encouraging travellers to book in advance to secure their spots.
Those who are flexible with their travel plans can also take advantage of saver fares for off-peak times.
Happy travelling, Victoria—we hope you get up to something fun with your loved ones!
