RCMP have released more details on a stabbing incident Tuesday morning and confirmed a City of Nanaimo employee was stabbed multiple times with a syringe.
In a second media release, Nanaimo RCMP stated that the alleged assault involved a 58-year-old man and occurred this morning, December 10th, at Maffeo Sutton Park, located at 100 Comox Road.
At approximately 10 a.m., a City of Nanaimo employee was assaulted with syringes in a park washroom. He sustained injuries to his face and abdomen.
The assailants fled the scene, but the victim provided a detailed statement to police before being transported to Nanaimo Regional Hospital.
The suspects were described as two Caucasian men. The first was approximately 5’10” with a red beard, wearing a red coat, jeans, and a large medallion around his neck. The second suspect had dark hair and was wearing dark clothes.
He also sustained facial injuries during the attack on the victim.
Both suspects remain at large.
“It is our priority to find the suspects,” said Cst. Wade with the Nanaimo RCMP. “However, I want to stress to the community: please do not approach anyone matching the descriptions. Instead, call Nanaimo RCMP to report any information.”
