RCMP investigate early morning stabbing incident at Nanaimo park

One person in Nanaimo was hospitalized earlier today following a stabbing incident.

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating an alleged assault that occurred early this morning, December 10th, at Maffeo Sutton Park on 100 Comox Road.

According to police, a 50-year-old man was assaulted with a weapon in the park’s washroom. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

The victim provided a detailed statement to investigators before being transported to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Police have not disclosed the nature of the injuries or the type of weapon used. Black Press Media is reporting that the victim is a City of Nanaimo worker who was allegedly stabbed with a needle, potentially multiple times.

The investigation is ongoing, and RCMP has assured the public that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
