Exciting news for frequent flyers!
Air Canada has announced it will offer free Wi-Fi starting May 2025 to some of its customer base.
This service will be available to all Aeroplan Members flying on Wi-Fi equipped aircraft for trips within North America and select Sun destinations.
Additionally, the airline has a goal to extend the free Wi-Fi service to long-haul international flights by 2026.
Customers flying on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and most Air Canada Express aircraft will be able to enjoy seamless connectivity on their personal devices, whether they need to stay productive or just want to stream their favourite shows.
“Reliable access to streaming-quality Wi-Fi is becoming essential for both business and leisure travellers. That’s why we’re upgrading our fleet with the latest technologies,” said Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada, and President of Aeroplan.
“Although other Canadian airlines have announced free Wi-Fi services, not all have accelerated installation across their fleets or committed to offering the service comprehensively.”
In addition to free Wi-Fi, the airline’s expansion has included offering a range of premium services, from chef-inspired meals and complimentary snacks to live TV and hours of inflight entertainment.
And for those who want more convenience, Air Canada’s mobile app provides real-time baggage tracking, digital identification, and more.
Not an Aeroplan Member yet? No problem! You can sign up for free on Air Canada’s website. And if you’re not a member, you’ll still be able to purchase Wi-Fi for a reduced flat fee.
Air Canada also plans to include expanding Wi-Fi service to regional flights throughout Canada, including popular routes like Toronto to Montreal and Ottawa.
The phased Wi-Fi rollout begins in early Spring 2025, with more than 85% of Air Canada’s fleet expected to be Wi-Fi equipped from day one. Installations for the remainder of the fleet will continue through 2025.
