A cherished gathering spot in Brentwood Bay, Café Zanzibar, has announced it will close its doors permanently on December 31st.
Known for its vibrant atmosphere and heartfelt service, the café has been a cornerstone of the community for over 24 years.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the owners revealed that the closure was not their choice. “The landowners have decided it’s time for a change on the land which we have leased for the last 15 years,” the post read.
“We have been privileged to call this space home for so long.”
The owners and staff extended their gratitude to loyal patrons who have supported the cafe over the years. “Your patronage has made our journey unforgettable. We’re proud to have been part of this community, serving you and sharing countless memories together.”
To show their appreciation, the cafe is offering free brewed coffee with breakfast every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. until closing day.
As the announcement sparked an outpouring of love and nostalgia on Facebook, reservations for the cafe’s remaining weeks are filling quickly.
Cafe Zanzibar, located at 1164 Stelly’s Crossroad, will also host a special New Year’s Eve dinner to mark its final day. Featuring a curated menu and two seatings at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., the event is reservation-only and expected to sell out.
“We want to make these last few weeks unforgettable,” the owners shared.
For nearly a quarter of a century, Cafe Zanzibar has been more than just a coffee shop—it’s been a space for shared laughter, heartfelt conversations, and delicious meals. Its closure marks the end of an era for Brentwood Bay.
As the community bids farewell to this beloved cafe, customers are encouraged to stop by, share their stories, and savour the experience one last time.
