A Million Acts of Love Benefit
After Felix Townsin lost his sister Lexi to the rare disease Blau syndrome, he has become a fierce advocate for health research and spreading kindness.
Inspired by his sister, he and his family have launched a Million Acts of Love campaign, where he hopes to inspire one mission acts of kindness by December 16th, what would’ve been his sister’s 12th birthday.
The campaign will launch with a benefit concert, held this Friday, October 18th at the Victoria Scottish Community Centre.
Tickets are just over $49 and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Victoria Royals vs. Prince Albert Raiders
It’s game night! Gather with a group of loved ones and show your WHL team spirit as the Victoria Royals take on the Prince Albert Raiders. What makes tonight even cooler is the launch of the Phillips Brewing ‘Craft Beer Bar’.
Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. has announced plans to open a new Craft Beer Bar at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC), promising to enhance the local experience for fans of the Victoria Royals and concert-goers alike.

2024 Victoria Festival of Authors
The 8th annual Victoria Festival of Authors kicked off on Wednesday, October 16th and runs until Sunday, October 20th—featuring a variety of events with authors spanning across numerous genres.
Friday’s events brings us “Edge Effect: Poetry of Transgression and Transformation” with Jody Chan, Leanne Dunic, Zehra Naqvi and Jaz Papadopoulos. This event is curated by Planet Earth Poetry and moderated by Melanie Siebert.
Tickets are offered on a sliding-scale, so attendees will have the ability to select a price that reflects financial comfortability. The standard price is just under $23.

Ocean View Estates Pumpkin Patch
Although Ocean View Estates won’t be offering a corn maze this year, visitors will still be able to return to their iconic pumpkin patch.
Guests are invited to try out a variety of props for pictures and, back by popular demand, the Alice in Wonderland Themed Pumpkin House.
The patch operates from Friday-Sunday and holidays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., until November 1st.
There will also be an Indian food truck on hand for anyone looking for a delicious pick-me-up!

Canadian Beauty: A Tribute to the Grateful Dead
Local band Canadian Beauty expressed sorrow with the coming closure of Victoria Event Centre, and wanted to jump at the chance to put on one last show there!
Well known for their tribute pieces to the Grateful Dead, they’re back with another spirited performance with lots of group improvisation, folky-roots country, dance floor favourites and harmonies.
Canadian Beauty is comprised of Lucky Budd on guitar and vocals, Marc Jenkins on guitar and vocals, Chris Van Sickle on keys, Esme John on bass and vocals and Damian Graham playing the drums.
Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door.
