A Central Saanich Police officer is recovering after being involved in a single-vehicle collision early Thursday morning.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Hovey Road and Wallace Drive at approximately 12:50 a.m. on September 12th.
The officer, who was driving a marked police vehicle, was the only person involved in the crash. Emergency services, including the Central Saanich Fire Department, responded to the scene and assisted in extracting the officer from the vehicle.
The officer was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
The Central Saanich Police Service has expressed gratitude to the Central Saanich Fire Department, EHS, Sidney RCMP, and Saanich Police Department for their assistance.
They are also providing support to the officer, their family, and colleagues during this time.
