A recall notice has been issued by Health Canada for a product used as a baby’s crib made by a company called Shopper+ Inc.
The product is called the “LivingBasics Baby Bassinet Bedside Sleeper Bedside Crib” which usually appears on a store tag as “Portable Crib”.
According to Health Canada, this product doesn’t meet the Canadian Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations.
“Specifically, the product’s sleep surface provides an incline angle greater than [seven] degrees, posing a risk of entrapment and suffocation to the child,” reads the Health Canada recall notice.
“Additionally, small parts can detach posing a choking hazard.”

Shopper+ Inc. has reported that the product has been on the market since December 2023, and since that time 644 affected products have been sold.
In addition to issuing this notice, Health Canada wants to remind new parents and caregivers that the safest way for a baby to sleep is on their back on a firm, flat surface.
Despite the recall notice being issued, as of July 22nd, Shopper Inc. has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the Portable Crib product made by Shopper+ Inc. and dispose of it in a way that it won’t be used again.
Additionally, consumers should contact Shopper+ Inc. for a refund at 1-866-979-7463 or via email.
Under no circumstances should recalled products be redistributed, sold or even given away, according to Health Canada.
