‘I counted the words at least 20 times’: Parksville woman wins $75K playing Scratch & Win

“I counted the words at least 20 times.”

That’s the reaction a Parksville resident had when she realized she had won $75,000 while playing Deluxe Crossword.

Upon scratching her Deluxe Crossword Scratch & Win ticket, Victoria Tyers said she had to check her ticket several times before the reality hit.

The tickets was purchased from the Mid Island Co-op on Island Highway East and was at her kitchen table when she discovered she was a winner.

Tyers said she will be heading to Hawaii with a little extra spending money.

“I was in shock… my first thought was, ‘my trip is paid for’,” she said.

Tyers plans to put some of her prize towards taking her family on a Hawaiian vacation this winter.

“I’m in disbelief! There really are winners out there,” she added.
