A female driver in her 40’s was arrested late Saturday night after she went on a rampage across three Victoria municipalities causing a serious collision and intentionally ramming multiple vehicles including police cars.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Saanich police said they received a report of a female driver that had intentionally collided with another vehicle in the 1500-block of Church Street causing injuries to the other driver.
The driver of the mid-size hatchback vehicle fled the scene in her vehicle before police arrived.
Other reports from Victoria and Oak Bay Police then surfaced and reported seeing the same vehicle and driver driving dangerously in their jurisdictions and purposely striking other vehicles — including police cars.
She failed to stop for police numerous times. About an hour later, she re-appeared in Saanich.
While police were attempting to stop the vehicle, the suspect crashed into a ditch where she then tried to flee on foot.
Saanich Police officers, with the assistance of Saanich’s K-9, were then able to arrest her safely.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for precaution.
“With many occupied vehicles hit by the female driver, it is amazing that nobody suffered any major injuries during this situation”, stated Cst. Damian Kowalewich.
A female Saanich resident in her 40’s is facing numerous criminal charges including hit and run x 6, dangerous driving, cause police pursuit and assaulting a police officer x 2.
