Impaired driver arrested after crashing into parked cars on Saturday

Police are recommending eight charges against a 31-year-old man who was caught trying to leave the scene of a collision in Victoria on Saturday night.

The crash happened at Wilson Street and Tyee Road around 6:40pm.

Witnesses told police the truck was turning onto Wilson Street so fast that at one point it was on two wheels causing the driver to lose control and slamming into parked cars.

The driver tried to flee the scene but was apprehended by several people in the area.

A passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries.

VicPD is recommending eight charges, including impaired driving and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The driver was scheduled to appear for a telebail hearing on Sunday.
