Parts of Vancouver Island forecasted to get snowfall this week

Winter isn’t over yet!

A weather advisory from Environment Canada states that Arctic air settling over southern British Columbia, combined with a storm system over the Alaskan panhandle that has been heading southward, is expected to bring snow to the coast.

They expect accumulations anywhere between 5cm to 15cm starting today (Tuesday, February 13th) afternoon, but only for elevated areas that are higher than 200m.

The weather alerts are currently in effect for regions from Courtney to Campbell River, Duncan to Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, and parts of Greater Victoria.

The snowfall is supposed to end on Wednesday morning – so if you’re traversing the Malahat or other elevated parts of the city, drive safe!
