Oak Bay Recreation Centre has announced that the pool will be closed until further notice due to a mechanical issue.

The pool closure was announced in a public notice posted to the District of Oak Bay’s website on Wednesday, May 13th.

The notice states that the entire Oak Bay pool area is currently closed, including all pool amenities, and that staff are working to resolve the issue.

“We appreciate your patience and will share updates as soon as they are available. Thank you for your understanding,” reads the notice.

This closure comes just ahead of the May long weekend, on which the rest of the Oak Bay Recreation Centre will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, May 18th.

The facility will be open regular weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday.

No timeline was provided by the District as to when the mechanical issue will be resolved and the pool area will be reopened.
