Happy Thursday, Victoria!

Thursdays are like an appetizer for the weekend, and we’ve compiled a whole menu of events for you to try!

Whether you want to catch some Canadian Olympic skaters at Stars on Ice or be a cool cat and support your local animal shelters with a hip hop show at Lucky Bar, there’s something going on for everyone.

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Thursday, May 14th:

Stars on Ice at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre

Head to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre to celebrate Canada’s Olympians live and up close, including Bronze Medallists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirie, as well as several other iconic Canadian Olympic skating medallists and athletes

Stars on Ice brings the nation’s brightest figure skating stars to visit Victoria for a performance at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Tickets for the event start at $27.50 plus fees and can be purchased here, and there are also pre-show passes available here.

Hip Hop for Paws at Lucky Bar

Head down to Lucky Bar for the 6th annual charity events Hip Hip for Paws!

Proceeds go towards the greater Victoria Animal Crusaders.

Showcasing local artists, there will also be raffle prizes and merch available.

Performances by Sweatpant Superstars, JC Toxin, John Doe, Vic City Soldiers, AZ-Real, Pindn, Cole Jackson, Liquid Jane and Whirly Bird.

Take Flight with the Victoria Academy of Ballet at the McPherson Playhouse

Join Victoria Academy of Ballet’s Emerging Artists from the Vocational Division for an unforgettable evening of dance at the McPherson Playhouse.

Take Flight is a vibrant celebration of talent and dedication, featuring a dynamic program of ballet and contemporary works.

Enjoy excerpts from Coppélia, Sylvia and The Sleeping Beauty, alongside original works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Alysa Pires and Angela Mousseau.

Remaining tickets for this event start at $38 plus fees and can be purchased here.

Esquimalt Farmers Market

This food-first market is a foodie’s dream!

Peruse an amazing selection of local businesses, pick up a delicious dinner from a hot food vendor and enjoy twice nightly musical performances while the kids run wild in the onsite playground.

In addition to food, there will be a fantastic selection of artisans and crafters yielding everything from soap to hand-printed tea towels, clothing, jewellery and more.

The weekly vendor map will be posted on the Esquimalt market website so you can see who will be there each week and plan your trips.

Parking is limited at this location so organizers recommend walking, using transit (the #15 or #26 bus) or riding your bicycle.

Small Pleasures, Dreckig at Wheelies Motorcycles & Cafe

Check out local band Small Pleasures and Dreckig from Portland, Oregon at Wheelies Cafe!

Rapidly becoming one of Victoria’s favourite venues, a show at Wheelies is a great way to spend your Thursday.

Sure to be a fun time!
