VicPD is advising motorists they may encounter temporary traffic disruptions this week as two marches are planned in Victoria’s downtown core on Thursday, May 14th.
The annual Moose Hide Campaign’s Victoria Walk to End Violence is taking place on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. Following that, the March for Life will be taking place at 1:45 p.m.
Both events are expected to cumulatively draw thousands into the downtown core.
The Walk to End Violence is part of the Canada-wide Moose Hide Campaign, which seeks to bring individuals, families and communities together in unity to take a visible stand against gender-based violence.
The Walk for Life is a pro-life event, seeking anti-abortion legislation in BC.
For the Victoria Walk to End Violence, participants will gather at Thunderbird Park at the corner of Belleville and Douglas Streets before marching west along Belleville Street to the grounds of the BC legislature.

March for Life participants will gather at Centennial Square before marching south on Broad Street, west on View Street and south on Government to the front of the legislative grounds.

VicPD special duty officers will manage road closures and provide site security.
Though VicPD will be providing assistance with blocking traffic for these two events, they recently announced they would no longer be aiding the weekly march for Palestine, which takes place every Saturday.
This decision was met with contempt by the organizers of the Palestine rallies, who have since announced they would be filing a complaint with the Officer of the Police Complaint Commissioner.
