Victoria Urgent and Primary Care Centre to close this week for planned power outage

Island Health has announced that the Downtown Victoria Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) will be closing to in-person visits on Thursday, August 14th, due to a planned BC Hydro power outage.

Those hoping to book an appointment this Thursday are being advised to call 1-833-688-8722 to inquire about booking an appointment at another Victoria-area UPCC.

Island Health added that the James Bay, Gorge, Esquimalt, North Quadra and Westshore sites remain open.

According to BC Hydro, the power is being temporarily shut off at the Downtown Victoria UPCC to allow for a system upgrade.

To help ease the increased burden at other Victoria-area UPCCs, staff from the downtown clinic will be re-deployed to other care centres.

Additionally, Island Health says that virtual care appointments will not be affected.

Following Thursday’s shutdown, the downtown Victoria UPCC will resume normal operations on Friday.
