A serious multi-vehicle crash has shut down a stretch of Sooke Road in both directions, with emergency crews and investigators on scene.
The collision occurred just before 5 p.m. on Thursday in the 4000 block of Sooke Road in Metchosin, and has led to significant traffic delays in the area as first responders work.
West Shore RCMP confirmed they are currently responding to the incident and advised drivers to avoid the area.
One witness told Victoria Buzz they came upon the aftermath of the crash and described the scene as “a bad one,” with one vehicle flipped upside down, another partially in a ditch, and a third with its front end completely smashed in—appearing to be the result of a head-on collision. A fourth vehicle may also have been involved.
“It’s blocking traffic in both directions,” they said. “I hope everyone gets away with minimal injuries.”
Kangaroo Road remains open and can be used as an alternative route. Police are asking for your patience as emergency crews work.
There’s no word yet on how long the closure will last or the condition of those involved. We’ll provide updates as they become available.
