We’re gearing up for everyone’s favourite time of the year with Esquimalt’s Buccaneer Days just around the corner.
Whether you want to get a head start on the action and head to the carnival early, or maybe head down to Hermann’s Jazz Club to see one of Canada’s greatest Blues musicians, we’ve got you covered.

Buccaneer Days Community BBQ
Buccaneer Days events are starting!
Dress in your best Buccaneer Days outfit and join your friends and neighbours for another delicious meal at the Buccaneer’s Day BBQ.
Help celebrate all the amazing volunteers who bring Buccaneer Days to life with a yummy hamburger lunch and themed performances.
Everyone is invited to this Buccaneer Days Kick-off event!

Buccaneer Days Midway Carnival
Keep the fun going after the community BBQ and head down to the carnival!
West Coast Amusements is bringing the Midway Carnival to the Archie Brown Sports Centre.
The carnival will be up all weekend, but you can be first to ride the rides and try all the tasty treats this year by showing up on Thursday.
Remember to wear your pirate-themed outfit, and go have a great time!

The First Pour Launch Party at the Garrick’s Head
Three of Greater Victoria’s finest independent breweries are rocking the Garrick’s Head Pub during the month of May with $7.50 pints.
Join them on Thursday May 7th from 3 p.m. for the First Pour Launch Party with DJ Juice, then stay thirsty because the South Island Trinity runs all through May!
Whistle Buoy Brewing will be showcasing their Ice Cold Lager, while Herald Street Brew Works will be showing off their Ghost of London ESB.
Small Gods Brewing will have two beers to display, the Rascal King Hazy IPA as well as a Garrick’s Head draught exclusive, the A Many Splendored Thing Tangerine Hazy Saison.
Get down to the Garrick’s Head and try some tasty beverages!

Poor Sport at Lucky Bar
Fancy some live music and little dancing?
Head down to Lucky Bar to see Poor Sport, an emo-post hardcore band from our own west coast.
Calutron Girls and Homestand will be supporting as openers.
Tickets are $20 advanced and can be purchased here, or $25 at the door.

Jack de Keyzer at Hermann’s Jazz Club
Jack de Keyzer, one of Canada’s greatest blues guitarists, lights up the stage at Hermann’s with his powerhouse band.
A two-time Juno and seven-time Maple Blues Award winner, de Keyzer delivers electrifying performances that span his award-winning catalogue and timeless blues, rock and soul classics.
With a sound rooted in Chicago blues, British blues rock and Southern soul, his playing is both masterful and deeply authentic—shaped by years performing alongside legends like Bo Diddley, Otis Rush and Etta James.
