Substation failure knocks out power to nearly 8,000 customers in Greater Victoria

Thousands are without power in Greater Victoria Tuesday afternoon after a substation failure.

According to BC Hydro, the outage occurred around 2:22 p.m. and is impacting BC Hydro customers in Victoria, Esquimalt, Saanich, and View Royal.

According to the power company, a substation failure is to blame for the outage.

BC Hydro crews are enroute to asses the situation. No estimated time on when the power would be restored was provided.
