What’s better than supporting local businesses in Victoria?

Getting rewarded while you do it!

Residents can support local cafes, reduce waste and win prizes all at the same time this October as the City of Victoria’s reuse stamp card contest returns for its third year.

The campaign runs throughout October and encourages residents to bring a reusable cup when purchasing beverages at participating cafes throughout Victoria.

More than 35 local businesses are taking part, with prizes up for grabs including a custom bike from Recyclistas, spa passes from Destination Greater Victoria, gift cards from the Downtown Victoria Business Association, and various zero-waste prize packs.

To take part, residents can pick up the wallet-sized stamp card from a participating businessor from City Hall.

Each time you use a reusable cup at one of the contest locations during October, you’ll get a stamp, counting as one entry into the prize draw.

The more stamps you collect will increase the chances of winning, so make sure to keep those London Fogs coming!

“We’d love to see bringing a reusable cup become the standard,” said Ed Cunningham, owner of Little June.

“That’s why we’re proud to support this campaign. It shines a light on a simple habit that many people already practice and hopefully brings a few more people along with it.”

According to the City, the campaign also supports Victoria’s Single-Use Items Reduction Bylaw, which requires restaurants and cafes to service customers dining on-site with reusable food service ware.
