Police are asking for the public’s help locating an 18-year-old woman whose disappearance from the Qualicum Beach area is being treated as suspicious.

According to Oceanside RCMP, Melissa Harper was reported missing on Wednesday, October 21st, the same day she was last contacted.

Her last known location was Qualicum Beach.

Police say the circumstances surrounding her disappearance have prompted the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) to take over the investigation.

“The circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious,” said Cpl. Alex Berube, spokesperson for the BC RCMP.

“For this reason, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.”

Harper is described as standing 5’4″ tall, weighing approximately 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say she also has connections to the Lower Mainland and Alberta. Both investigators and Harper’s family are concerned for her health and well-being.

Anyone with information about Harper’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local police department or the VIIMCU information line at (250) 380-6211.
