Langford–Highlands has made their choice, and it’s orange once again.
BC NDP incumbent Ravi Parmar has secured another term in the BC legislature, holding onto his seat in BC’s election.
Parmar, who was first elected in a 2023 byelection following the retirement of former premier John Horgan, has once again gained the most votes in the West Shore riding.
The victory marks his third consecutive provincial election win, with the aforementioned 2023 byelection and the 2024 general election.
Parmar faced several challengers this time around, including BC Conservative candidate Cindy Scott, BC Green candidate Christopher Moon, CentreBC’s Sean Flynn, Christian Heritage Party candidate Christian McCay and independent Alex Thurlborn.
Before entering provincial politics, Parmar spent years serving on the Sooke School District Board of Education, including nearly a decade as board chair.
During his time in provincial government, he served as Minister of Forests and Deputy Government House Leader, becoming one of the youngest people in BC’s history to hold such a position.
Born and raised in Langford, Parmar has maintained strong ties to the community during his political career.
The Langford–Highlands riding, which includes Langford, Highlands and surrounding West Shore neighbourhoods, has a long history of NDP representation, particularly under Horgan.
Tonights results continue that tradition, keeping this particular riding in NDP hands despite a larger shift in BC’s politics as a whole.
