A 55-year-old man has died following a late-night motorcycle crash in Langford, marking the second fatal motorcycle collision in Greater Victoria in less than two weeks.

West Shore RCMP say officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Florence Lake Road and Setchfield Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 22nd.

When officers arrived, they located the motorcyclist suffering from significant injuries.

Paramedics with BC Emergency Health Services and members of the Langford Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released further details about what may have caused the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

The fatality comes just 13 days after another motorcyclist died following a single-vehicle crash on West Saanich Road in Saanich.

That collision occurred on October 9th, shortly before 5:30 p.m., in the 5200 block of West Saanich Road.

The rider, later identified as Konrad Young, was transported to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.

Following his death, friends launched an online fundraiser to support his wife and young son.

Saanich Police previously said their Major Crime Unit was investigating the circumstances surrounding that collision.

West Shore RCMP have extended their condolences to the family and friends of the 55-year-old man killed in Langford.
