There’s an exciting event happening at the Malahat SkyWalk this weekend!
On Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd, the Four Winds Weekend will celebrate Indigenous culture, creativity, and connection at the renowned landmark.
The Malahat SkyWalk is surrounded by the region’s breathtaking natural beauty, set against sweeping views of the Saanich Inlet and encircled by towering Douglas fir and Arbutus trees.
At the Four Weekends Weekend, the celebration transforms the SkyWalk into a vibrant cultural gathering place as well. Visitors are invited to slow down, listen, learn, and connect through Indigenous stories, traditions, and artistic expression.
The weekend will feature cultural performances from Cowichan Tzinquaw Dancers and the Lək̓wəŋən Dance Group, whose songs and dances honour generations of knowledge and celebrate the living traditions of their communities.
The site will also host Indigenous artists and makers from across Vancouver Island, where they will be showcasing handcrafted beadwork, leatherwork, paintings, carvings, cedar art, textiles, and contemporary Indigenous design.
Visitors will be able to meet the artists, hear the stories behind their work, and support Indigenous-owned businesses in the region.
“This weekend is really about connection,” said Nathan Bird, General Manager at Malahat SkyWalk.
“We’re honoured to welcome such an incredible group of Indigenous artists, dancers, and cultural practitioners to the SkyWalk. I hope people take the time to meet them, hear their stories, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the traditions and artistry they continue to share.”
Indigenous artists present at the celebration include Deborah Derrick (Nisgaa Dreams), Jen Emile (Oceanloverjen), Michelle Offutt (Kirakira Beading), Jolene Seymour (Salish Creations), Marie Joe, Korrey Laderoute (Kozy Kokum), Jeannie Chipps, Katie Philips, Kara Lebold (The Bold Detour), Dianne Marshall (Empath Medium), and more.

Each of them will be sharing handcrafted works that celebrate Indigenous creativity, entrepreneurship, and cultural expression.
The general admission price will include all weekend programming during the event, meaning that in between performances and cultural experiences, guests can explore their favourite SkyWalk activities.
The Malahat SkyWalk is famous for attractions such as the 600-metre elevated TreeWalk, the accessible Spiral Tower, its newest feature, The Overhang—Canada’s first enclosed glass cube experience—and Luke’s Lane, where nature-inspired play encourages visitors to slow down, explore, and reconnect with the surrounding forest environment.
