Two people were taken to hospital after a vehicle left Highway 19 and overturned in a forested area near Parksville Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle crash in the highway’s northbound lanes, just north of Exit 46, at around 7:10 a.m. on September 6th.
According to Oceanside RCMP, a white Kia Forte left the right side of the highway before landing upside down among the trees.
The male driver and female passenger were both transported to hospital. Police said the driver suffered the more serious injuries of the two.
Witnesses reportedly saw the Kia being driven erratically before the crash. Investigators believe alcohol impairment may have been a contributing factor.
Highway 19 was closed for several hours while a collision reconstructionist examined the scene.
No charges have been laid and the investigation remains ongoing.
