After months of construction, the Bay Street Bridge project is now complete.
Since early February, the bridge, also known as the Point Ellice Bridge, has been closed to eastbound traffic for months and has seen numerous full overnight closures.
The project was initially supposed to get underway back in October 2025, but had to be postponed until February due to delayed specialized construction materials.
The scope of this project saw a replacement of the main deck joint installed, allowing the bridge to expand and shrink with temperature changes.
Additionally, crews made improvements to the 65-year-old drainage system that runs under the bridge.
“Thank you to residents, businesses and commuters for your patience and support throughout construction,” said the City of Victoria in a media release.
“We recognize the project created temporary disruptions and appreciate the community’s understanding while this important work was underway.”
The City noted that this work will help extend the life of the bridge so it can continue serving the community for years to come.
